Do you want to become healthy—in a holistic way? Well, there’s an app for that! Several, actually!
Being healthy is much more than just eating right. The following smart phone applications, or "apps," will remind you to get up and move, track your workout, promote healthy sleep patterns, help you track your diet, and remind you to take some time to breathe.
StandUp!
You can become healthier by getting off your butt and…well, that’s it! According to this article on CNN, “just standing—even if you don't walk around—can have health benefits.” Making sure you’re moving enough can be hard to do if you lead a busy lifestyle so having an app that reminds you to get up and move can help. One user of the app said in their review, “Every time the alarm goes off I get up to stretch AND practice my Bible memorization. I can’t say enough good things about ‘Stand Up!’ I highly recommend this neat little app.”

You may think sleeping is the easiest thing you do every day, but you could be doing it wrong. Setting your alarm clock for the same time every morning might be making you sleepy during the day. According to Pillow, you can get the most out of your sleep by using the Pillow app to wake you up during your lightest sleep cycle. But, Pillow does more than that. It also gives you reports on your sleep cycles, the amount of sleep you’re getting and can even “record important audio events such as snoring, sleep apnea and sleep talking.”

Lose It!
70 million pounds! That’s how much weight Lose It! claims they have helped their users lose. You may have heard, “you can’t manage what you don’t measure,” so take the first step in managing your nutrition by “measuring” the food you’re eating. Lose It! allows you to track your calories, carbs, and overall nutrition in an efficient and easy way. The app does this by letting you search and record the meals you’ve eaten from a database of over “7 million+ foods, restaurant items and brands from around the world…[you can] use the barcode scanner [that] uses your phone's camera to upload nutritional information,” or just take a picture of your food from the app!

Sometimes you can get in such a rush you forget to slow down and breathe. This article on TIME cites 39% of Americans reported being more anxious than they were at this time last year. Some of the top stressors? Safety, health, and finances. While this app won’t solve all your problems, it will allow you to take a few minutes out of your day to relax, breathe, and take a step back from your problems.
Check out these apps today and download those that you feel best fit your health and wellness goals!
